DARTZ Drive Hard 6x6: The Die Hard MRAP Made Real

The DARTZ Drive Hard 6x6 is an armoured, MRAP-themed Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6, built for a private client after the premiere of A Good Day to Die Hard (2013), for which DARTZ helped develop the MRAP stunt truck. Fox News and High Gear Media reported 1,019 hp, 738 lb-ft of torque and a kerb weight of about 11,000 lb, with armour they described as resisting all small-arms fire.

Some film cars end up in a museum. This one ended up as a commission.

From the film

For the fifth Die Hard, A Good Day to Die Hard (2013), DARTZ took part in developing the MRAP stunt truck that Bruce Willis drives through Moscow’s traffic, and two DARTZ Prombron’ cars appear in the chases.

To a client

After the premiere, a private client ordered a car in the same spirit. DARTZ built it on the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 and called it the Drive Hard 6x6, an MRAP-themed six-wheeler.

Base Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6
Power 1,019 hp
Torque 738 lb-ft
Kerb weight About 11,000 lb, against about 8,500 lb for the standard 6x6

Armour

Fox News and High Gear Media described its armour as “B8-grade”, resisting all small-arms fire and even smaller bombs and improvised explosive devices. The label is theirs: the European glass and panel classes end at BR7, and heavier threats are rated on other scales. Our guide to protection levels explains how they compare.

About DARTZ

DARTZ is a Riga carrosserie that builds bespoke, opulent vehicles, armoured or non-armoured, in strictly limited numbers. It calls them BONDs: Bespoke Opulent Noble Drives.

Its heritage runs back to the Russo-Baltic Wagon Factory (RBVZ), founded in Riga in 1869, whose automobile department built its first car in 1909. Leonard F. Yankelovich revived that heritage as DARTZ in 1988. The group, DARTZ Grupa OÜ, is registered in Tallinn, Estonia.

Its Prombron’ models, from the Iron Diamond and Black Dragon to the Black Shark, Black Alligator and Black Stallion, have been covered by Top Gear, Forbes, Robb Report and Fox News, among many others.
